The strategic objective of the Investment Promotion summit is to promote Ranchi smart city as the preferred investment destination for the next decade. The Investment Promotion summit will be used as a platform to showcase investment opportunities in Ranchi smart city’s real estate, health, education, hospitality & housing sector especially to large scale investors looking to explore opportunities to invest and expand business.
The Summit will focus on showcasing investment opportunities in Ranchi smart city and provide an opportunity for investors to understand the potential & offerings of the smart city. This initiative will include organizing sectorial sessions and business to government (B2G) meetings.
CREDAI, CII, FCCI, industrialist of respective sector (Education, Health, Housing, Real-estate & hospitality), IT firms (Wipro, TCS, Infosys), International trade association(PROMAXICO, Korean trade association) and relevant government officials.
About Smart city in India:
India is on the verge of the development of smart cities at the standard of international level. Honorable PM of India vision ‘Digital India’, has a plan to build 100 smart cities across the country. He said, “Cities in the past were built on riverbanks. They are now built along highways. But in the future, they will be built based on availability of optical fiber networks and next-generation infrastructure.” The idea of smart city came into formulation owing to the need to accommodate rapid urbanization of the age. Interest in smart cities continues to grow, driven by a range of socioeconomic and technological developments across the globe.
About Ranchi Smart City:
Ranchi is the capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand. Ranchi has been selected as one of the hundred Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under PM Narendra Modi's flagship Smart Cities Mission. Ranchi is well known for being the hometown of former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni. Accordingly, the Government of Jharkhand envisions to make Ranchi Smart City:
1. A Knowledge hub for educational excellence – for both formal and non-formal sectors, by reinforcing its good educational institutes in preparation for welcoming knowledge based industries.
2. An efficiently managed traffic and transportation system based city aided by Information Technology (IT) in all aspects to reduce the travel time of commuters and incidents of traffic violations to make Ranchi a safe city for pedestrians and commuters. For development of modern state-of-the-art amenities, Smart City of Ranchi will offer opportunities to investors in the areas of real estate, health, education, housing and hospitality among others. It will be so designed so as to provide all basic amenities like good quality water and electricity supply, solid waste management system, scientific sewerage and drainage systems, IT connectivity, digitization, e governance and public participation.
Smart city has two components:
1 Pan City – Where infrastructure improvement in existing Ranchi City is being done. 2 Area Based Development (ABD) – New city in 647.08 acres area for total projected population of 1,50,000.
About Ranchi Smart City Corporation Limited:
In line to the guidelines issued by Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD)/ Government of India (GoI) Government of Jharkhand has created a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Ranchi Smart City Corporation Ltd (RSCCL) for implementing the Smart City mission at the city level. RSCCL will plan, appraise, approve, release funds, implement, manage, operate, monitor and evaluate the Smart City development projects. RSCCL is headed by the CMD, a full time CEO and have nominees of Central Government, State Government and ULB on its Board.
